Once again as part of Autofocus 2025, Nicolas Le Flohic immerses us in a fascinating world that he himself titled Look for the little beast. This photographer and graphic designer confides: “My macro photography is a form of meditation: time stops, the mind empties, and the journey begins. »

And the little creature, by dint of looking for it, it seems that Nicolas has found it and fixed it forever on a support. “For around ten years, I have devoted myself to this discipline which consists of immortalizing very small subjects with a high magnification ratio. Some insects do not exceed a millimeter. » Using a dedicated lens, it can achieve impressive magnification, revealing details invisible to the naked eye.

“An inexhaustible source of discovery”

His favorite subject? Insects. “Observing their miniature world, capturing their shapes, textures and surprising colors is an inexhaustible source of discovery. » The thirty selected photos are an invitation to explore a universe rich in mysterious and often unknown species. This little world is often within reach. “A few steps in my garden are enough to find them, but walks remain a practically inexhaustible source. » However, certain places are more favorable, the insect returning there more familiarly.

Nicolas does not hesitate to photograph the same insect, specifying: “His attitude is never the same and his support offers a different setting. » A leaf can serve as a natural decor, bringing out the shimmering colors of the small animal.

Each photo has its own caption

Throughout the exhibition, a beautiful red dragonfly seems to be laughing: “What my face! » There, a moth raises its beautiful oversized antennae and, a few steps away, a juvenile green bug offers very beautiful varied colors. A precious ceratin, a small metallic blue solitary bee, does not exceed 7 mm.

Nicolas admits: “A female imp measuring 3 to 4 cm and which can remain motionless for hours remains my favorite shot. »

The photographer does not just fix an insect on film, he carries out research to immerse himself in its way of life. Each photo is captioned providing clear and precise details.

So, visitors, through the door, look up and discover this wonderful world! Perhaps, if you listen carefully, a light rustling of wings will guide you through this unsuspected world.
