On January 10, 2025, Habib Fenni, the mayor of Cressensac-Sarrazac and the municipal council presented their wishes, at the village hall of Saint-Jean Hospital. After the demographic assessment, the achievements of 2024 and the prospects for 2025 were extensively detailed.
Around sixty participants responded to the invitation, including 10 elected officials (out of 19), the parish priest and two representatives of the Press.
A declining demographic balance
The 2024 demographic report was briefly presented, it looks like this: 16 deaths and only 3 births (these 2 figures being down compared to 2023), 7 marriages and 8 civil partnerships. The total population of the Commune would amount to 1168 inhabitants, or 634 inhabitants in Cressensac and 534 inhabitants in Sarrazac… a regular difference of 100 inhabitants altogether. This total population would have increased by 30 more inhabitants compared to 2020?
After a discussion of the national political context, of which we will only remember the expected drop in subsidies, the events of 2024 were discussed. Among these, the inauguration of the new municipal school in Cressensac which cost around 3 million euros , 70% of which is covered by state funding. New vocations for the 3 disused schools, including that of Cressensac which will be transformed into a Leisure Center without accommodation (work will begin in April-May 2025). The former L'Hôpital-Saint-Jean school will become a socio-cultural reception space and that of Sarrazac will see the creation of 2 apartments, but will we have the subsidies? The file was entrusted to Mr.me the Prefect came to the site on December 4. Work linked to Operation Cœur de village, in Sarrazac, will perhaps begin on 2e semester 2025, but it is not certain…
-Ecological challenges and future projects
The negative points that have been deplored are as follows. The work on the listed MH church of Sarrazac should be carried out to restore a renovation of the facade worthy of this building… (but we are waiting to see the coverage by insurance otherwise this will be settled in litigation). We also had to deplore the serious pollution of the Fontaine de la Babourie where 2500 liters of fuel were spilled requiring 20 pumpings carried out by a specialized company. And yet again, the incivility of citizens who dump their rubbish next to the waste drop-off points, thus forcing the road workers to constantly clean up…
Other topics covered in bulk. The white paths for which 40,000 euros were invested. The tractor bequeathed by Paul Laymarie (died on 01/6/2024 and who gave all his property to the municipalities of Cressensac-Sarrazac and Vignon-en-Quercy!) will be used for road maintenance with the lawn mower purchased. Creation of a communal truffle farm (40 feet of truffle trees planted in March 2025) and an orchard of 18 fruit trees… The project to bury the networks (various overhead lines) in the village of Neyragues (Cressensac) for an amount of 200,000 euros in costs. Securing the path of pedestrians, Rue de la Victoire, in Cressensac, with one-way traffic and installation of bollards or low walls up to the school… The PLUIH which would allow new constructions, an allocation to help finance a school trip for CM1 and CM2 students, the sale of the Cressensac Presbytery which is reportedly on track! Without forgetting support to find a second doctor in Cressensac…, or even a possible Music Festival…
17 associations and two centenarians
In conclusion, we must remember: well done to the 17 associations, a minute in memory of our new benefactor (cited above) and special wishes to the 2 centenarians of the town: Suzie Branche (104 years old, residing in an EHPAD in Corrèze) and Paul Coustal (who just celebrated his 100th birthday last December and who still lives at home, with his wife, in the Bourg de L'Hôpital-Saint-Jean).
Cake and cider closed this meeting.
