The quantities of coastal and artisanal fishing products landed at the port of Tan-Tan fell by 45% during the year 2024, according to data from the National Fisheries Office (ONP).
In its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, the ONP indicated that the quantity landed during the year 2024 amounted to 56,355 tonnes, with a financial value of 777.951 million dirhams ( MDH), down 9% compared to the previous year (855,742 MDH).
The quantities of surface fish landed recorded a drop of 54% to reach 39,545 tonnes, with a financial value estimated at 162,411 MDH, compared to 284,586 MDH in 2023 (more than 85,406 thousand tonnes), added the same source.
On the other hand, the quantities of white fish landed at the port of Tan-Tan during the same period decreased by 13%, or a quantity of 10,962 tonnes, with a drop of 4% in financial value (240.386 MDH) compared to the year 2023 (12,601 tonnes and 249.366 MDH).
-As for the quantities of molluscs landed, they increased by 22% to 5,657 tonnes, for a market value of 365.805 MDH.
For their part, the quantities of crustaceans landed increased by 48% to reach 190 tonnes (9.35 MDH).
It should be noted that at the national level, marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products, in terms of value, recorded growth of 6% in 2024 to exceed 10.54 billion dirhams, while the volume of these products reached 1,336,058 tonnes, down 1% compared to 2023.
