Russian Daniil Medvedev will have to pay a fine of 76,000 dollars (74,000 euros) for his bad behavior at the Australian Open, where he notably destroyed a camera placed on the net and missed a press conference post-match.
When he entered the fray against the Thai Kasidit Samrej (418th), the world number 5 had damaged a camera located in the net by smashing his racket several times.
THURSDAY, Daniil Medvedev skipped the post-match press conference after his surprise elimination after five sets against the American Learner Tien (121st), in a meeting which ended at almost 3:00 a.m. in Melbourne.
During the match, he threw his racket at a billboard and argued with the referee after being penalized for several foot faults on serve.
-Before his elimination in the 2nd round this year, Medvedev had reached three of the last four Australian Open finals.
