“As a founding member and pillar of the UAR, the RTS is a privileged partner for organizing this major event. Your expertise and your influence make it an ideal place to bring together communication stakeholders around this essential theme,” underlined the UAR delegation during their meeting with the Director General of RTS last Monday.

The summit will aim to share best practices, in particular by exchanging experiences on the use of radio to raise awareness of the climate emergency, to strengthen the capacities of journalists and radio producers in the climate field and to promote partnerships between the different actors involved in the fight against climate change, specify the organizers.

According to them, the choice of radio to talk about the climate challenge is justified by the capacity of this medium to reach a large audience.

This event, under the theme ”Radio at the heart of communities: together facing the climate challenge”, will explore ways to strengthen the use of radio as a tool for awareness, education and mobilization.

This international meeting will bring together journalists, experts, climatologists/environmentalists, policy makers and representatives of civil society to discuss the crucial role of radio in the fight against climate change.

”In a hyper-connected world, radio remains an essential medium, particularly in rural areas and isolated communities. Its portability and resilience make it an indispensable tool for disseminating vital information on climate change and encouraging prevention, say the organizers.
