The 34-year-old woman allegedly intentionally poisoned her child from August 6 to October 15, 2024, according to a Queensland police statement released Thursday and obtained by CNN. She reportedly told her followers that her daughter was battling a terminal illness.
She would thus have “administered to a one-year-old girl, whom she knew, several unauthorized medications, delivered on prescription or in pharmacies, without medical authorization”, we indicate in the report.
Police became suspicious when the child was taken to hospital in a “serious state of emotional and physical distress,” according to the BBC.
He has since been in stable condition. “He is safe and he is doing well,” detective Paul Dalton confirmed to the British media.
-“There are no words to express how repugnant offenses of this nature are,” he added.
Detective Dalton said the young woman, who comes from the Sunshine Coast region, would have collected nearly 60,000 Australian dollars (CA$53,800) in donations from the GoFundMe site.
After months of investigation, the influencer was finally arrested.
She faces charges including torture, fraud and manufacturing child exploitation material.
