The Kingdom of Morocco takes part in the Global Forum for food and agriculture on the sidelines of the International Green Week in Berlin.

On the sidelines of the International Green Week in Berlin, Morocco took part in the 17th edition of the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture (GFFA) which is being held from January 16 to 19, 2025 in Berlin.
The 2025 edition of the GFFA focuses on the theme “Designing a sustainable bioeconomy”, in a context marked in particular by the climate, health and geopolitical crises, which threaten global food security.
The conference of Ministers of Agriculture, attended by more than 60 ministers of agriculture, was an opportunity to debate the paths to successful transition towards a sustainable bioeconomy. During this conference, the final communiqué of the Forum was adopted.
Morocco, represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mr. Ahmed El Bouari, highlighted the sectoral strategies Generation Green, Halieutis and Forests of Morocco as well as the the Kingdom’s commitment to transforming its food system to strengthen its resilience and consolidate its achievements in food security. In this process, the development of the bioeconomy is one of the transformation paths adopted by Morocco.
In his speech, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests highlighted the role of the bioeconomy and presented innovative practices and successful experiences of valorization of agri-food residues for production gas and the transformation of olive oil crushing residues into energy and biofertilizers. He also highlighted the successful experiences of circular bioeconomy in the fisheries sector, through the transformation of fishing by-products into food for aquaculture and biofertilizers.
Furthermore, Morocco insisted on prioritizing food security in the transition to a responsible bioeconomy.
-Finally, Morocco underlined the central role of South-South cooperation carried out under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Help Him, in sharing technical innovations in favor of our African continent.
Creation of a Morocco-Germany working group on food and agriculture
At the end of the bilateral meeting held by Mr. El Bouari with the German Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr. Cem Ösdemir, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMEL) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests of the Kingdom of Morocco, signed a declaration relating to the creation of a working group for closer cooperation in the field of food and agriculture.

The latter aims to constitute a structured platform aimed at strengthening already existing cooperation, intensifying exchanges between stakeholders, consolidating existing partnerships and providing an institutional framework where current issues and concerns can be debated on a regular basis. . It also aims to promote collaborative and sustainable approaches in the areas of food security, efficient management of natural resources and the resilience of agricultural systems in the face of global challenges.
