The Maritimes had started the match well despite the early yellow card from Tawera Kerr-Barlow (3rd). Outnumbered, they got their hands on the ball, provoked Italian mistakes and collected a few points (0-6). Treviso reacted quickly, scoring the first try of the match, thanks to Niccolo Cannone (7-6, 12th). The two teams then went on to score a series of battles, offering a great contrast in style between the powerful Rochelais but too often at fault and the playful and mobile Italians.
