Touba, Jan 17 (APS) – Several radio stations in the town of Touba (center) announced the death, Friday, January 17, of religious leader Serigne Dame Atta Mbacké, one of the grandchildren of the Muslim guide Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba (1853 -1927), founder of the Mourides brotherhood.

The deceased was the caliph of the family of Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké, one of the sons of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba.

He was one of the eldest grandchildren of the founder of the Mouride brotherhood, according to the same sources.

In a message published on his X account, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, presented his condolences to the Caliph General of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké.
