On Thursday, January 16, American justice indicted Alexander Justin White, a 29-year-old American accused of advocating and supporting the terrorist group Daesh. The person concerned, alias Sulaiman Al-Amriki, was arrested on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 while preparing to board an international flight from Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU), in North Carolina, to Morocco. His intention had been to join the terrorist group’s network in the Sahel from the Kingdom. If convicted, White faces up to 20 years in prison.

His arrest by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took place thanks to close collaboration with the services of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance. This is what the same FBI indicated this Friday, specifying that this is a 7-month investigative work. “The DGST provided us with information and assistance during this investigation», Specified the American agency.

Between May and October 2024, White allegedly used an online account under the name Sulaiman Al-Amriki to post numerous messages supporting ISIS. This would have included videos commonly used to recruit new members and generate enthusiasm for fighting, as well as fundraising videos and several posts and reposts involving supporters and ringleaders of the terrorist group.

«White’s online communications with like-minded individuals showed an active effort to find a way to join ISIS overseas in order to become a fighter on behalf of ISIS», Underlines the American Department of Justice. White was also involved in financial transactions with camps known to act as fronts and funnel money to ISIS.

White also made comments online regretting not having traveled to join the terrorist group sooner, when some international routes were even less patrolled. “Thinking his opportunity had arrived, White reportedly took steps to make his planned trip feel like a vacation, while claiming he would rather die than return to the United States», lit.

After carrying out various preparations, the suspect attempted to board a flight to Morocco on December 4, which he intended to use as a starting point to join terrorists active in the Sahel.
