In its operational posture of combating irregular emigration, the territorial gendarmerie units have intensified their actions with the strengthening of surveillance of the lagoon and river-maritime fringes.
It is in this dynamic that the Joal gendarmerie brigade proceeded, on Thursday January 16, to the arrest of 25 candidates for irregular emigration who had gathered in an abandoned house in Mbodiène-Plage, in the commune of Nguéniène, seneweb told us from Lieutenant-Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.
Questioned in the minutes, they declared having paid sums of between 350,000 and 900,000 CFA francs to reach Europe by sea.
These are 23 Senegalese and two Guineans who wanted to leave the country irregularly. They were grouped together for more than a month in various places, before being apprehended by the gendarmes of this unit of the Mbour company.
Investigations are continuing to find anyone involved in this criminal network.
