During a press briefing held following his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bouritathe head of Ivorian diplomacy expressed his country’s support for the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco, which constitutes the only credible and realistic solution for the resolution of this regional dispute. He further welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive framework for achieving a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the dispute over the Sahara.
In this regard, Mr. Bourita thanked the Ivory Coast for his constant and firm support to theterritorial integrity of Morocconotably for its clear position in favor of Moroccan Sahara which resulted in the opening of a Consulate General of Ivory Coast in Laâyoune in 2020. Furthermore, the head of Ivorian diplomacy paid tribute to the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in terms of peace, stability and socio-economic development in Africa.
In the same press release, the two ministers also welcomed the dynamic initiated within the framework of the Atlantic African States Process to make the African Atlantic space a zone of co-emergence and stability as well as a geostrategic framework which contains important opportunities for synergy and cooperation between the countries which compose it in strategic areas such as the environment, food security, health, energy, logistical interconnection, pooling of resources and exchange of experiences. On the other hand, the two parties welcomed the progress in the realization of the megaproject of the West African Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline and modalities for strengthening the coordination and cooperation of this project, a symbol of South-South cooperation which, once completed, will contribute to improving the living conditions of populations and strengthening regional economic integration. The two ministers also welcomed the progress of the works and infrastructure carried out as part of the Cocody Bay rehabilitation project in Abidjan which was launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His brother His Excellency Mr. President Alassane Ouattara in 2014.
