Nothing to do with the historic flood of December 2023, however, in just five days, the level of Lake Bourget rose by almost 40 centimeters. This happened between January 7 and 12. Since then, it has already started to slowly descend.

The precipitation coupled with the melting of snow in the watershed increased its level from 232.30 to 232.70 centimeters in a few days, which notably caused a slight overflow on the lake route located between Aix-les-Bains and Viviers-du-Lac, at its lowest portions, near for example Cap des Séselets. This Thursday, January 17, such a situation was already over, the level having fallen to around 232.55 centimeters.

Nothing extraordinary… if it didn't remind us of the vulnerability of part of our territory to floods. A message that Cisalb, the organization which monitors the lake and its watershed on a daily basis, regularly reminds us. It has also just put online, on its website (https://www.cisalb.fr/), a mini-series in four episodes: these videos offer solutions to “improve the protection of people and property » in the event of flooding.
