More fear than harm. THE Thursday January 16, 2025according to here Pays de Savoie, eight skiers and snowboarders had an unpleasant experience in the mountains.
It all started when the skiers, English and Australian, realized that they had missed the last ski lift to reach La Rosière in France from La Thuile in Italy.
Two possibilities are then available to them: either they sleep in Italy and return the next day, or they try to return in off-piste. Despite being told by rescuers that it was a bad idea, the skiers still chose the second option.
-Two helicopter rotations required
Emergency services therefore intervened between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. There were eight of them who needed help, and the helicopter deployed had to do two rotations to transport everyone. The victims were “men and women aged 30 to 50, with two 14-year-old teenagers”, according to Pays de Savoie here.
They were recovered under the Col de la Traversette during a somewhat complicated operation. The wind and high voltage lines hampered the emergency response a little.
