Paris: nearly 300 people on the street sheltered in the Stalingrad and La Chapelle sectors

This is the first operation of its kind in 2025. On Wednesday January 15, 294 people who were sleeping on the streets were taken care of and directed to temporary reception structures, the police headquarters of and the Île-de- prefecture.

In detail, these nearly 300 people were in the areas of Stalingrad, Boulevard de la Villette, de la Chapelle and Jaurès, in the 10th and 19th arrondissements of the capital. 219 were taken to temporary reception structures in Île-de-France and 75 were taken to similar establishments outside the region.

In their press release, the regional prefecture and the police headquarters recall that “this first shelter in 2025 is part of the constant mobilization of the State to support the most vulnerable people”, while temperatures fell below 0°C at night this week in the capital. The prefectures also indicate that in Île-de-France, “more than 120,000 people in precarious situations (…) benefit from State support for accommodation”.
