A new direct air link between Shanghai-Pudong and Mohammed V International Airport will very soon see the light of day, with flights operated three times a week by Shanghai Airlines, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines.
The Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, signed a decision giving the green light to the company Shanghai Airlines, a subsidiary of the China Eastern Airlines group, to operate direct flights, at a rate of three per week (Tuesday, Friday and Sunday), between the international airports of Shanghai-Pudong and Mohammed V in Casablanca in order to strengthen air traffic between Morocco and China.
According to Hespress sources, this decision, likely to give new impetus to Moroccan-Chinese relations and to better serve the very promising Chinese market, follows the request made by the Chinese company since 2022.
Thus, next Sunday, January 19, confirm these well-informed sources, the first flights of the second direct line of its kind between Morocco and China will be inaugurated, after the Casablanca-Beijing line. This new line will offer Moroccan and Chinese businessmen more opportunities to meet and explore prospects for cooperation and investment in the two friendly countries.
The launch of this new air link comes in a context where Morocco is experiencing growing growth in the tourism sector, which is counting on greater openness to the particularly dynamic Chinese market with strong potential to introduce the Chinese to the civilizational and natural assets of the Kingdom. in the future.
-Regarding the impacts that the new license could have on the competitiveness of Royal Air Maroc, the same sources stressed that the interests of the Moroccan company are preserved, to the extent that this new service complements its roles for the national market.
It should be noted that flights departing from Shanghai, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft with a capacity of 285 seats, including 26 in business class, will take place at 1:55 a.m. (local time) to land in Casablanca at 1:10 p.m. ( local time), according to the “Shine” news site. As for departures from Casablanca, they will take place at 5:10 p.m. (local time) for an arrival in Shanghai the next day at 4:50 p.m. (local time), specifies the same source.
It should also be noted that RAM announced on August 5 the resumption, from January 20 (next Monday), of the direct air link between Casablanca and the Chinese capital Beijing.
The frequency of flights will be three per week. Flights from Casablanca will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 3:15 p.m. (local time), landing at Beijing International Airport at 10:50 a.m. (local time) the next day. As for flights departing from the Chinese capital, they will operate on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 12:50 p.m. (local time) and will arrive in Casablanca at 8:15 p.m. (local time).
