Work began in 2024, a year after the Rethel crematorium opened its doors in January. Its inauguration took place this Thursday morning. This is the second crematorium in the Ardennes after that of Prix-les-Mézières. An essential tool in the face of high demand. Nearly one in two French people favor cremation.
“There was a real shortage, the crematoriums were far away and delays were significant in the region” explains Denis Dabrigeon, director of the Rethel crematorium.
Different offers are available:
A brand new crematorium in the region with an investment of more than 4 million euros and which will affect the Ardennes and the Marnes thanks in particular to the different offers that we see nowhere. “There are technological tools that allow us to better support families” the director explains to us as a “live broadcast of the ceremony for distant family members who cannot travel”.
The crematorium also offers outdoor ceremonies in a large amphitheater unique in France.
In terms of price, the cost is 863 euros including tax. The Rethel crematorium is average for what is practiced in the region, declared the director during the inauguration.
Open days will take place on Saturday January 25.
