To mark the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Metropolis of Lyon, Lumière Lyon 2 University is organizing two days of conferences on the legal and institutional aspects of this form of community, with a special status.

Ten years ago, the Métropole de Lyon was born, resulting from the merger between the Urban Community of Lyon and the General Council of the Rhône. Unique in its kind since it brings together community and departmental skills, this form of local authority still raises questions ten years later.

Since its creation, the Julie-Victoire Daubié Faculty of Law at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 has made it an object of study. After organizing two international conferences in 2018 and 2021, it is once again organizing a conference around the legal and institutional aspects of the Metropolis. It will take place on Thursday 23 in the Metropolitan Council room and on Friday 24 January
in the Grand amphitheater of the university, located on the banks of the Rhône campus.

On this occasion, jurists, political scientists, elected officials and local actors will dialogue during 18 conferences and 3 round tables focusing on the status of the Metropolis itself, on its skills, on its normative and financial specificities but also on certain disputes. The objective of this conference is to “better understand the legal originality of the community, take stock of this last decade by opening up perspectives for the future”.
