During a conference organized by “ the Prospective and Innovation Foundation » chaired by the former French Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, initiated as part of his program “La Matinale des ambassadors” in partnership with Business France and the magazine “L’Express”, Ms. Sitail indicated that the two countries are driven today by a strong desire to go further in their bilateral relations and to envisage their common future with conviction, assurance and determination.

The ambassador of His Majesty the King, at first glance, recalled that the state visit recently made to Morocco by the President of the French Republic, at the invitation of the Sovereign, marked a decisive and historic step in relations bilateral relations, noting that the two countries have decided to strengthen communication channels and raise their cooperation to an unprecedented level.

For Ms. Sitail, it is a “strategic alliance which is part of history and which is resolutely turned towards the future”, recalling that the Declaration relating to the “Reinforced exceptional partnership”, signed by SM King Mohammed VI and the French President, now constitutes the reference instrument governing bilateral relations.

The Moroccan ambassador recalled on this occasion the extent and highly strategic issues of the bilateral agreements signed between the two countries covering a wide range of areas of cooperation. In the same context, she recalled the historic position of France, expressed at the highest level of the State, supporting the sovereignty of the Kingdom over its Sahara.

On this subject, Ms. Sitail did not fail to draw the attention of the audience to the ordeal experienced by the sequestered populations in Tindouf, in Algeria, calling for people to become truly aware of the extent of this dramatic humanitarian situation.

The ambassador also noted the importance of the international and regional context in which Moroccan-French relations are evolving, highlighting the African dimension of the Kingdom and the ambition that Morocco has for this continent to which it is proud. ‘belong. She also highlighted Morocco’s role as a peace facilitator, citing as an example the Libyan dialogue and the Kingdom’s active role on the humanitarian level, particularly in Gaza.

In a statement to MAP, former French Prime Minister, president of the Prospective and Innovation Foundation, Jean-Pierre Raffarin welcomed the boom in economic and social development that Morocco is experiencing under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

“Morocco is an important partner of France. In recent years, it has experienced considerable development momentum with its economic growth and its structuring projects,” he said, emphasizing the place enjoyed by the Kingdom internationally and regionally, particularly in Africa.

“We measure the strengthened, serene and constructive influence today of Morocco on the international level, particularly in the African continent,” affirmed Mr. Raffarin, noting that “the Kingdom is a trusted partner and a global facilitator because “he knows how to talk with everyone and thus allows successful interventions on shared projects”.

The conference, which was moderated by Mr. Raffarin, saw the participation of an audience of politicians, including the vice-president of the National Assembly, Naima Moutchou, the president of the France-Morocco friendship group at Senate, Christian Cambon, deputies, senators, economic operators, journalists and diplomats.
