Meurthe-et-. “I’m burned out”: the mayor of Beuveille resigns
Meurthe-et-Moselle. “I’m burned out”: the mayor of Beuveille resigns

Elected mayor for the first time in 1995, Jean-François Azzara devoted three mandates to the management of Beuveille. He decided to retire from politics due to health problems. “I've been burned out for six months and it's not getting better. This is due to the stress and the workload of my duties as mayor,” confides the elected official. It is the responsibilities inherent in the management of the municipality combined with budgetary constraints which have weighed heavily on its state of health. “We often have to deal with available resources and subsidies, which has become increasingly difficult in the current context,” regrets the sixty-year-old.

Fatigue

It was during the greeting ceremony, organized on Friday January 10, that Jean-François Azzara officially announced his resignation. A revelation which surprised his colleagues even if some had noticed signs of progressive fatigue over the last few months.

The municipal council, made up of thirteen remaining members, will have to elect a new mayor by February. Jean-François Azzara, for his part, prefers not to comment so as not to influence the vote. “I have confidence in all the members of the municipal council,” assures the elected official.

Transition

The official resignation letter was sent to the prefect of Meurthe-et- on January 6. Jean-François Azzara proposed a departure date set for January 31 so as not to disrupt the establishment of the municipal budget. “Validation from the prefecture is however necessary to ratify this transition,” says the outgoing mayor. He intends to devote himself fully to his professional activity, namely a real estate company (SCI). “I’m moving away from politics to refocus on my business,” he says.
