“The case concerns a serious incident which shook the residents of the Al-Ababda neighborhood in Salé, about a year ago. A young woman in her twenties was found dead after being thrown into the sea in Salé. This drama combining violence, blackmail, betrayal and indecent exposure led to the conviction of the accused,” indicates Al Akhbar. Prosecuted for “intentional assault and battery resulting in death, indecent assault with violence, public drunkenness, blackmail and threats to publish compromising content”, the young man was sentenced to ten years in prison.

According to the investigation carried out by the Salé judicial police, the victim, a young woman of around 20 years old, was under “psychological pressure” from the accused who threatened her to publish intimate photos and videos of ‘She. To put an end to this blackmail, she arranged to meet the young man on the beach in the Chemaou district, in Salé, to recover the phone containing this compromising data. His body was later found on Nations Beach in Salé. The defendant, who was intoxicated at the time of the incident, told investigators that the victim had fallen from a cliff.

But the contradictions noted in his statements, as well as the testimonies collected from those close to him, made it possible to establish his guilt. “The victim’s mother’s statements also contradicted her version of events. The latter had received photos and recordings sent by her daughter via WhatsApp, revealing the nature of the confrontation between her daughter and the accused,” specifies the daily. The results of the autopsy carried out on the victim’s remains confirmed the guilt of the accused: the young woman died following asphyxiation and a cerebral hemorrhage.
