The CHAN 2025 draw has set the opponents for Senegal, reigning champion, who will try to defend their trophy won in 2023 in Algeria. Placed in Group D, the local Lions will face Sudan, Congo and Nigeria in a tough group.

The draw for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) took place this afternoon at the prestigious Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya. The event was led by Hassan Wasswa, a Ugandan international footballer playing as a midfielder. The 19 teams entered, including two places to be distributed, were divided into 4 groups: three groups of five teams and one group of four. Senegal, reigning champion and led by Souleymane Diallo, was placed in Group D, alongside Sudan, Congo and Nigeria.

This edition of CHAN, initially planned for 2024 then postponed to February 2025, has been postponed again and will finally be held in August 2025. This postponement was decided in order to ensure that the infrastructure and facilities meet the requirements necessary to accommodate the eighth edition of the tournament in the best conditions. Another notable point of this edition is its joint organization between three East African countries: Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. This is a first in the history of the competition, with stadiums divided between these three host nations.
