The figures from the latest census, established in 2022 and which come into force for 2025, have just fallen.
Gaillon (Eure) has moved up the slope and is gaining inhabitants and has 6,888 inhabitants at the start of the year compared to 6,785 in January 2024. There were 6,935 at the start of 2023
These data barely digested, a new census is launched.
The Gaillon census begins this Thursday
Census takers, recruited by the town hall, will travel through the city from from Thursday January 16 until Saturday February 15, 2025 included. The calculation of the legal population updated and disseminated each year will be established on the basis of the data collected. A figure which allows each year to determine the State participation in the municipal budget.
The census also makes it possible to have a finer photography of the city's inhabitants (age, qualifications, etc.) and their housing (building, individual house, number of rooms, etc.).
16 agents recruited
To carry out this survey, the municipality has decided to recruit 16 enumerators who will have to distribute the 16 districts of the city divided between 200 and 250 housing units. The municipality contacted municipal agents, the Local Mission, the Espace Condorcet and took advantage of the Employment Forum to carry out these 16 recruitments.
For the 4th time, it's Odile Helleboismember of the general affairs department, who was designated as survey coordinator in charge of preparing and carrying out this census.
“The agents will come with their name card to the homes of the people identified. During the week, they will come between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday during the day and on Sunday on request,” explains the coordinator.
If there is any doubt about the identity of the census takers, Gaillonnais can call the town hall to confirm that the person is not a fake agent. “The investigation will only be carried out during the 30 days indicated and at the specified times,” recalls Odile Hellebois.
Family survey
In addition to the annual census, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies launched a “ family investigation» in order to have additional information.
In Gaillon, two of the sixteen districts were selected for this survey. On the one hand theJardins de Bas districtand on the other hand the sector including the hamlet of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garenne, the Clos des Vignes but also the sectors included in the industrial zone with Les Artaignes, La Muette, the Trente Acres or the Pot à l 'water.
This aims to better understand the composition of today's families and their history. Residents of the areas mentioned will therefore be asked questions about their family members who do not live with them, and about their family history. The last survey of this type dates back to 2011. This new version will update the data.
