Death of Henri Arfang Senghor, Senegal loses another statesman

His Excellency Mr. Henri Arfang Senghor, former Ambassador of Senegal to Brazil and Italy, died in Paris on January 11, 2025 at the age of 97.

Godson and nephew of President-poet Léopold Sédar Senghor, he embodied an emblematic figure of Senegalese diplomacy, honored with the Grand Cross of the National Order of the Lion.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday January 22, 2025 at 10 a.m., at the Saint-François-Xavier church, in Paris. Condolences will be received at the end of the mass. A memorial mass will also be organized at a later date at Dakar Cathedral.
