The Seine water retention locker pilot project, in the Bassée sector, is now in its testing phase. After two and a half years of work including the construction of a 7.6 km long dike and a pumping station, the withdrawal of water from the river began this Wednesday. Objective: fill the 360 ha dammed between Châtenay-sur-Seine, Balloy, Gravon and Égligny (Seine-et-Marne) with 10 million cubic meters of water. It's up to the Seine Grands Lacs Territorial Public Basin Establishment (EPTB), in charge of this 114 million euro project, to then see what that gives.
The filling, announced to be effective in 66 hours, will this time take several weeks. It will be half full until February 2. Various checks will take place. Before filling it completely on February 24. The water will then be stored for fourteen days.
