This is an important ecological project. In Haut-Rhin, and more precisely in Chalampé, 16,000 trees as well as 1000 aquatic plants were planted on the banks of the Rhine. According to France Bleu, this project is supported by the Haute-Alsace rivers union.
Several hectares of trees and wetlands
The objective? Create an alluvial forest with six hectares of trees and two of wetlands. This project is compensation imposed by the State on the Alsachemin company, located right next door, which destroyed a wasteland a few years ago to expand its site.
The choice was therefore made on this alluvial forest, which goes “further” than a classic forest according to a union engineer, interviewed by our colleagues.
You will have to be patient before you can really observe a forest! In any case, completion of the work is scheduled for February.
