After the Menestrail, it's time for the urban trail. In Moncontour (Côtes-d'Armor), a new running race is about to see the light of day. Saturday April 19, 2025, up to 700 runners will be able to start the first edition of the Urban trail de la Cité Moncontour (UTCM). An event organized by the La Providence private school association.
“We wanted to get involved in the organization of Menestrail, but there wasn’t really a need,” explains Yoan Drillet, main organizer of the new race. With 3,600 runners gathered in December 2024, the success of the Menestrail no longer needs to be demonstrated.
On the other hand, « we noticed that the concept of urban trail did not yet exist in the town, so we gave it a go.” But Yoan Drillet assures us: “We don’t want to do a second Menestrail. »
Two possible distances: 5 and 10 km
For this first edition, two circuits will be offered: 5 and 10 km. Routes for “discover the city with its pretty stones, its streets and its countryside”, because Yoan Drillet is convinced that Moncontour offers “an ideal setting”. The departure will be from Place du Center.
-Registrations open Friday
The profits from the race will be partly donated to the private school, and partly kept to constitute a budget for next year's edition. Discussions have already been launched for future years, in particular to cross municipal buildings. “But it’s not that simple because we have a lot of old buildings with small doors, and that can create traffic jams,” explains Yoan Drillet.
Registrations will open at 9 p.m., Friday January 17, 2025. And given the success of the running races, currently in Brittany, the bibs could leave very quickly.
Saturday April 19, 2025, in Moncontour. Price: €6 for the 5 km; €11 for the 10 km (excluding platform fees). Online registrations at: klikego.com
