Questioned by the Medical Regulation Assistants of Samu 50, based in Saint-Lô (Manche), at the Memorial hospital center, the CGT of Manche alert “on more than degraded working conditions. For several months, the Samu teams have been undergoing constant overload due to a lack of human and material resources. This increasing pressure leads to professional burnouts and increased risk of errorsin a mission where every second counts.”

“Up to 120 calls per hour”

The flu epidemic and closure or reduction of resources in city medical practices during the end-of-year holidays have increased this pressure.

“Compared to the Covid pandemic, the volume of calls received has tripledreaching today up to 120 calls per hour instead of 40. This chronic overload fits into a already alarming context. In 2024, the Samu 50 processed more than 500,000 communications. The meters displayed more than 2,747 cumulative overtime hours by the teams. »

The union calls on “public authorities and local officials to act quickly to avoid irreversible degradation of this vital service”.
