A tradition since 1930
This tradition of naming aircraft, borrowed from the navy, saw the light of day in 1930. The repertoire of names given to Air France planes has evolved over the years, enhancing of the provinces (Gascogne, Auvergne…), adjectives (Active, Agile, Adroit…), constellations (Cassiopeia, Altaïr…), birds (Albatross, Stork, Bearded Vulture, etc.), until 1970.
