Jérôme Poizat and Philippe Donadille, co-founders of the festival

“If they want to take a big shot of escapism and inspiring stories, this is the outing to do”promises Philippe Donadille, co-founder of the “Histoires et Crapahutes” festival. This new cinematographic event dedicated to hiking will take place at the Olympia in Pontarlier on January 15. An evening during which 5 mini-films lasting 16 to 44 minutes will be screened, for a total of 2.5 hours of broadcasting. The co-founders will be present to interact with the public. Film buffs, using ballots distributed before the screening, will be able to vote for their favorite film. The traveling festival, which began in December, tours in around forty cinemas across until March, in order to define the big winner of the audience prize.

“We quit our job to get started”

The idea for this concept was born thanks to two friends from the southwest of France, Philippe Donadille and Jérôme Poizat. Faced with the relocation of the company for which they worked, they had the trigger: “we said to ourselves that maybe it was the time to mix our two passions. Mountaineering for Jérôme and achievement on my side »explains Philippe Donadille. They recount this process in the film they made, “ Bifurcation », filmed during a Trek on the ridges of Cap Corse. Obviously out of competition, it is broadcast first during the evenings. To build the festival, they solicited more than a hundred directors and selected 4 projects: “we wanted films with real stories. Our programming explores subjects such as surpassing oneself, changing one’s life or even disability”he said. After only 4 dates, the two friends are already surprised: “The reception from the public exceeds all our expectations. We have the impression that the spectators are experiencing the adventures through the screen, as if they were there”enthuses Philippe Donadille. “We can't wait to come to Pontarlier, there is a particular enthusiasm when we come to mountain regions.”

Visiting the Olympia cinema in Pontarlier on January 15, the festival will quickly return to the region, in Lons-Le-Saunier, on February 10.
