The Ministers of Energy and Oil of Senegal, Biram Souleye Diop and of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Mohamed Melainine Ould Khaled signed, this Monday, January 13, 2025 in Nouakchott a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation around of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas field. This meeting allowed the two countries to explore the opportunities offered by this strategic project.
The main points of this agreement relate to the creation of job opportunities and the promotion of local expertise in the oil and gas sectors. It also provides for the training of a qualified workforce, the strengthening of national capacities through the transfer of technologies and knowledge, as well as support for national companies to increase their international competitiveness.
A transparent monitoring mechanism for local content commitments has also been put in place to ensure the lasting impact of this partnership.
