The local section of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH) in El Attaouia-Tamlalt revealed the sordid details of a case of gang rape followed by pregnancy, the victim of which is a minor suffering from mental disabilities. The NGO demanded the most severe penalties against those involved.
In its correspondence with the prosecutor at the Marrakech Court of Appeal, the association indicated that the victim, aged 13, resides in Douar Oulad Salama in the commune of Oulad Arad. She suffered repeated gang rapes by three people aged 60 to 72, which led to a pregnancy and childbirth, which took place in a hospital environment, Friday January 10, 2025. The association points to the main accused who prompted the teenager, taking advantage of her mental disability.
In light of these facts, the NGO called on the justice system for urgent intervention, in order to obtain compensation for the victim, on the basis of a thorough investigation and exemplary measures. The association noted that the three defendants have been in detention since November 20, 2024. The case was presented to the criminal chamber of first instance on December 3, 2024.
So far, three hearings have taken place, all postponed to summon the victim and her guardian. The latter two did not receive the summons, according to the association, which informs about a fourth hearing scheduled for January 22.
In the same context, the local section highlighted the social drama experienced by the victim’s family, who was forced to leave their place of residence. The NGO appointed a lawyer for the minor, in addition to becoming a civil party.
