Man riddled with bullets in Lévis: mistaken identity, police say

The man in his twenties who was riddled with bullets near a Lévis hotel on Saturday evening was “probably” a collateral victim of the drug war, police believe.

“The most likely thesis is that there was a mistaken identity,” says Jean-Sébastien Levan, spokesperson for the Lévis City Police Service (SPVL).

Remember that the victim was in the parking lot of a Comfort Inn hotel, in the Saint-Nicolas area, when he was hit by several projectiles around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday.

A suspect dressed all in black then fled on foot before getting into a gray vehicle. A long gun was reportedly found at the scene by investigators from the Forensic Identification Unit in the hours that followed.

Seriously injured, the victim was rushed to a hospital. Although she was not out of the woods, the SPVL assured that her condition was stable on Monday morning.

The latter would also not be known to police circles.

“The investigation tends to demonstrate that this event would be linked to the armed conflict [opposant les gangs de rue aux motards criminels]», adds M. Levan.

Still no suspects have been apprehended in this case as of this writing.

The event was enough to traumatize the families who were staying at the hotel as part of a hockey tournament, with stray balls having lodged in at least one of the rooms of the establishment.
