We announced to you exclusively a month ago, the parliamentary group Ensemble pour la République (macronist) offered the presidency of the France-Morocco friendship group to the National Rally. It has now been implemented since Monday afternoon, two sources within French political parties tell us.
The far-right party had made it a non-negotiable achievement despite the rise of Macronist elected officials and the beginnings of backpedaling by negotiator Mathieu Lefèvre (MP Ensemble pour la République). If the appointment of the president remains at the discretion of the party, Marine Le Pen and Sébastien Chenu are the favorites to occupy this position offering great international visibility.
This parliamentary gift shows the lack of interest of the deputies of the presidential party for Morocco, even though Emmanuel Macron, during his official visit to Rabat, had insisted on parliamentary diplomacy as an accelerator of the rapprochement of the two countries. Their priorities focused on the friendship groups with the United States and Israel that they ultimately obtained, according to initial reports collected by Yabiladi.
France Insoumise created a surprise by winning those of Senegal and Lebanon that it coveted, despite the initial opposition of the group of Macronist deputies. The Ecologists, who had asked for Morocco, would not have obtained any friendship group among those who were still in the running.
