Located in a quiet area of Granby between town and countryside, Haus-Natur is a project of luxurious new sustainable houses without maintenance hassles. A well thought out concept, especially for those who want to leave a family property without ending up in a condo.

Before even talking about the house models for which the plans are already ready, Pierre Laflamme, president of Haus-Natur, announces that a new model is being developed. “The principle is the same, but on a single level of 112 m2 to make it more affordable,” he explains, showing us around a model house of the project.
Like the other properties, this one will rather attract people who are retired or about to retire, who want to live in a comfortable place with contemporary architecture, but without the constraints of a single-family home. “I’m going to be 60 soon and I know that a lot of people over 50 don’t want to go to a condo, but want a better quality of life without having to do the maintenance that a house entails. , notes Mr. Laflamme. We therefore found a solution by creating this concept of 57 single-family houses with services. »
The principle is that each inhabitant of Haus-Natur is housed in the same boat, benefiting from identical community maintenance. Services included range from snow removal to the front door, lawn mowing, watering, trash pickup and composting, and spa and pool maintenance. “We also offer the option of having someone come to your home every week during your vacation, for example, and providing an electric car upon reservation; This can be very practical for troubleshooting, or for people who only have one car,” he continues.
Long-lasting constructions
Each residence is built on a heated concrete slab. According to the president of the project, there should not be basements in houses in Quebec because there are recurring flooding problems. Furthermore, Haus-Natur relies on beautiful materials, such as brick and steel on the exterior.
I prefer to build houses with quality materials that will last a long time to have peace of mind.
Pierre Laflamme, president of Haus-Natur
“They will cost more to purchase (Editor’s note: prices start at $750,000 plus taxes), but the windows, the facade cladding, the roof will not need to be changed after around twenty years, unlike standard constructions. In half a century, my houses will not have moved,” assures Mr. Laflamme. Another interesting element from an ecological point of view: permeable driveways to collect rainwater.

An advantageous single storey
The houses currently on offer – five models in all – have a surface area which varies from 179 m2 at 283 m2 and include two or three bedrooms.
Functional and easy to live in, they all have an entrance on the ground floor with cloakroom (mudroom), a bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room and an open concept living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, as well as a closed garage.
Additional bedrooms and bathrooms are offered upstairs.
An offer that attracted Marie-Claude Boisselle and Anne-Doris Malenfant, the first buyers of this new project. “We have been in Bromont for 22 years and we were looking for a real single storey with contemporary architecture so that it would be better suited in the long term,” says Marie-Claude Boisselle, who has just retired.
They really liked the concept of Haus-Natur and fell in love with the model house, with its impressive windows and high ceilings which give the feeling of being outside almost everywhere. “We chose the model with another bedroom upstairs to make our office. It really ticked all our boxes, except that it wasn’t in Bromont, but it’s a beautiful neighborhood and we’re only 12 minutes from our current residence,” attests M.me Boiselle.
Limited tree cutting
Mr. Laflamme says he acquired the land where the properties will be built in 15 minutes. “I fell in love with a house in the neighborhood, but it was already sold, so I decided to buy the surrounding land because I found the place really interesting, because it was close enough to Montreal, but in a peaceful environment. »
Residences of the same style were built in 2009, but in the form of co-ownership, since three houses shared a single plot of land.
For this new project, each home will have its own plot of land, 743 m2 at 3250 m2 environ.
And since 40% of these lands are not wooded, trees will be planted there, says Pierre Laflamme. For the rest, he ensures that tree cutting will be limited to the space necessary for the establishment of houses and that he will ensure that the most beautiful specimens are preserved.
“For us, preserving the forest is essential, so there is no question of cutting down trees haphazardly,” he explains, adding that he intends to position himself in the new wave of sustainability. This is the best way to avoid spending resources unnecessarily, even if you have to spend more money on the purchase. »
