Thibau Nys became Belgian cyclo-cross champion for the first time this Sunday in Zolder, in the absence of Wout Van Aert who prefers to concentrate on preparing for his road season.

Nys22 years old, reigning European champion, was logically one of the favorites in a race which pitted the best specialists in the world against each other with the exception of Van Aert and Dutch Mathieu van der Poel.

The son of Sven Nysformer world champion in the discipline, beat Laurens Sweeck et Toon Aerts about ten seconds.

A formidable puncher, Thibau Nys is one of the great hopes of Belgian cycling, also on the road. In 2024, he had his first successes in World Tourwith stage successes on the of Poland and of Suisse.
