Lhe awards ceremony for the winners of the first edition of the Maison de la presse Prize for culture and media took place on Friday evening in Tangier.
This ceremony, held at the Tangier Press House in the presence of the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Younes Tazi, the governor of the province of Fahs-Anjra, Abdelkhalek Marzouki, the secretary of state responsible for social integration, Abdeljebbar Rachidi, the president of the Regional Council, Omar Moro, the director responsible for the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, the Palestinian ambassador to Morocco, Jamal Choubki, and several journalists, media professionals and cultural and civil society actors, was also marked by a tribute paid to experienced journalists and intellectuals.
The prize for the best media work to promote the image of the city of Tangier was awarded to Abderrahim Tafnout of the 2M television channel for his five-episode program “Kan Ya Makane” on the history of the city of Tangier, while that of the best cultural work devoted to promoting the image of Tangier was awarded to the writer and translator Abdelkhalek Najmi for his book “Secret Conversations on Tangier”.
Concerning the Tanger Med prize for the best economic media work, it was awarded jointly to Hamza Metioui of the newspaper “Assahifa” for his article entitled “Tanger Med, a port complex the size of a country”, and Bouchra El Houdaigui, from the Tamazight channel, under the National Radio and Television Company (SNRT), for his economic program entitled “Tangier, a fast-growing economic hub in the Kingdom”.
The Tanger Med prize for the best economic study and research was won jointly by the journalist on SNRT’s “Chaine inter” radio, Sofia Fagroud, for her economic report entitled “Brown algae and invaders of the Mediterranean”, and researcher Abderrafie Zaanoun for his study on “The role of Morocco in the governance of migration”.
Regarding the price of migration and Moroccans of the world, it came back tied to journalists Farhana Ayach of Radio Medi 1, for her program of Moroccans of the world “A Moroccan migrant from Gabon”, and Abdellah Tijani, of electronic site “Hespress” for its report entitled “The great escape: the journey of thousands of young people and minors dreaming of mass migration”.
-On this occasion, the director of the Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC), Abdellatif Bensfia, president of the jury, composed of the journalist Nadia Abram and the writer and critic Yahya Ibn Al Walid, underlined that this competition saw the participation of several high-level works, which address the position of the city of Tangier at different levels.
For his part, the president of the Tangier Press House, Said Koubrit, indicated that the Press House Prize aims to “pay tribute and encourage people to continue to explore the best methods to promote the image of Morocco and the city of Tangier”.
This ceremony was also punctuated by a vibrant tribute paid to the dean of Moroccan journalists, Seddik Maaninou, to the secretary general of the communications department, Abdelaziz Boujdaini, interim director of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), and to the director of the television “Attaqafia”, Abdessamad Bencherif.
A tribute was also paid to the vice-president of the National Press Council, Fatima-Zahra Ouriaghli, to the writer and director of the Higher School of Architecture and Building Professions at the University of Fez , Mustapha Akalay, and to the writer and journalist Philippe Boulon.
