The Toulouse team won on the pitch in Durban, South Africa, on Saturday afternoon.
A narrower victory after two demonstrations. Stade Toulousain won its third Champions Cup group match on the Durban Sharks pitch (20-8), Saturday January 11. Under high heat and lots of humidity, Toulouse appeared a little more out of shape than during their first European outings (64-21 against Exeter, 61-21 against Ulster). But they still managed to get the better of the South Africans who had been outplayed for a long time, and who waited until the last quarter of an hour to score their first try.
Led by their captain Antoine Dupont, who played his first match in the red and black jersey for a month, the Hauts-Garonnais were able to count on two achievements from Emmanuel Meafou (9th) and Blair Kinghorn (43rd), and on a good play from Romain Ntamack throughout the match (two 50-22s found).
But, guilty of numerous small errors, they failed to get two additional tries synonymous with bonuses, and had to resist repeated attacks from their opponents in the final minutes. With this result, Toulouse remains undefeated in the competition but cedes first place in group 1 to UBB, the clear winner of Exeter (69-17) in the afternoon.
