Thilogne, January 10 (APS) – The mayor of Thilogne, Mamadou Elimane Kane, announced the organization of a day of celebration to mark, during this year, the centenary of primary school 1, a historic establishment in this town from the Matam region (north).

“This school, which has existed since 1925, deserves to be celebrated for its centenary. I even decided to designate a focal point for the organization of this day of celebration, in the person of Cheikh Tidiane Dia,” announced the councilor on Thursday, on the occasion of the final of a football tournament. sponsored by the municipality he heads.

Mr. Dia, a native of Thilogne, also secretary general of the education and training inspectorate (IEF) of Ranérou, will be at the head of the organizing committee, indicated the councilor.

He also intends to involve the Thilogne diaspora in this activity, through Thilogne association development (TAD) and its sections based in and Belgium.

The exact date of this commemoration has not yet been decided, but studies have already started, according to the mayor, himself a former resident of this establishment.

The event will also be an opportunity to give a name to this establishment located in the Diabé Sala district, announced the councilor.

“It is important today, in the eyes of the whole world, that people know that Thilogne is a city of education where people have been going to school for 100 years. This school has seen many personalities including the former deputy mayor Elimane Kane,” he underlined.

The mayor took advantage of this final to discuss other sporting projects such as holding a wrestling tournament, installing floodlights, and developing other disciplines, notably basketball and judo.
