Morocco is strengthening its ambition to position aquaculture at the heart of its blue economy with two approved financing programs, totaling 300 million dirhams (nearly 30 million dollars), announced the National Agency for Agriculture. Aquaculture Development (ANDA).

These initiatives are part of the national strategy intended to increase the competitiveness of the aquaculture sector while diversifying sources of income. ANDA specifies that these funds “will be devoted to carrying out innovative projects, improving infrastructure as well as supporting private investors in the implementation of new aquaculture farms.”

Considered a strategic pillar, the aquaculture sector has recorded significant progress in recent years thanks to proactive public policies. According to the agency, these investments “will not only contribute to meeting a growing demand for aquaculture products but also to guarantee compliance with the most rigorous environmental standards.”

These projects “are part of a broader vision of valorization of Moroccan maritime resources, based on the development of a sustainable, competitive economy that respects marine ecosystems”we mentioned.
