For Christophe Dugarry, who knows him very well, Zinédine Zidane still has the same desire to settle on the Blues bench. Without fearing possible failure.
Asked this Thursday at a press conference about the succession of Didier Deschamps at the head of the Blues, Franck Haise first smiled. Before moving on: “For the future, there is real evidence and I share it. That Zinédine Zidane will be the future coach of France in 2026, I think that makes a lot of sense.”
Like the Nice coach, Bruno Genesio has a hard time imagining another scenario. “When Didier stops, I hope with a new title, there is someone who is tailor-made to succeed him and that’s even what I want. It would be perfect,” said the Lille coach.
The Blues, “a childhood dream” for Zidane
Free since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, the 1998 world champion is for many on a royal road to (finally) settling on the bench of the Blues by the summer of 2026, after the World Cup. An opinion shared by his friend and former teammate, Christophe Dugarry, for whom “Zizou” brings together all the assets for the post-Deschamps era.
Will Zidane save French football? – 09/01
-“The problem with Zizou is that there is a surreal side to it and he makes things so easy. He won the Champions League three times in a row, no one could have imagined that! He been able to motivate a club as strong and political as Real Madrid We think it’s easy, but what do you think everything is easy for him? not do as well as Deschamps? But you know him? evil!”, he said this Thursday in Rothen s’ignée, on RMC.

“He’s not afraid of a challenge,” he said. “He’s not afraid to get wet, he’s not afraid of failure. The Blues are a childhood dream for him. Does he still want to become a Blues coach? Obviously, when I read that Le Graët had doubts about his interest, I said to myself that fortunately we fired him!”
