Morocco breaks a new tourism record in 2024 with the arrival of 17.4 million visitors, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy.

“The Morocco destination hits hard in 2024. With 17.4 million tourists at the end of December, Morocco reaches early the ambitious objective of its roadmap, initially planned for 2026”indicates the ministry in a press release. These figures represent an increase of 20% compared to 2023, or nearly 3 million additional tourists, reports the same source.

In addition, this positive dynamic is reflected both at the level of Foreign Tourists (TES) who reach 8.8 million visitors (+23%), as well as Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE) who represent 8.6 million visitors. arrivals (+17%).

The balanced distribution between TES (51%) and MRE (49%) demonstrates the constant attractiveness of the destination for these two segments.

In this wake, the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, stressed that “this record of 17.4 million testifies to the considerable progress our country is experiencing under the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI”. And to continue: “This exceptional performance is the result of targeted investments by our government in this vital sector for our country’s economy, as well as the constant mobilization of professionals in the sector. Bravo to all public and private actors who have allowed Moroccan tourism to shine.”

These results, exceeding the 2019 figures by 35%, attest to the relevance of the tourism roadmap and confirm Morocco’s positioning as an essential tourist destination and first destination in Africa, the press release concludes.
