Arrested in Paris then released, Doro Gaye is suspended from the decision of the French courts regarding his possible extradition to Senegal where he is entangled in a case of land fraud. But the businessman did not wait to be decided on his fate regarding this procedure to open another front with the hope of avoiding prison if he is returned home.
In this Thursday’s edition, Les Échos informs that its lawyers have referred the matter to the Chamber of Indictment. Objective ? Obtain the annulment of the order revoking the judicial review that the investigating judge of the third firm had awarded to their client. “It comes to us that the businessman’s lawyers believe that the investigating magistrate revoked the judicial control of their client not because he did not respect the terms set by the provisional release order , but he would have followed the will of the civil party who would have considered that Doro Gaye had failed to fulfill his commitments,” reports the newspaper.
The same source adds that the applicants stressed that the judge of the third cabinet revoked the judicial review before the respondent left Senegal.
Doro Gaye was arrested and placed under arrest warrant at the beginning of last June for alleged land fraud to the detriment of Zakiloulahi Sow. The amount of damage is estimated at 1.2 billion CFA francs. At the end of June, he regained his freedom thanks to a provisional release obtained after he made a commitment, within the framework of a memorandum of understanding, to repay the amount owed.
But while he was under judicial supervision, the businessman left Senegal last November. He will be arrested in Paris in December. Released, he awaits extradition. At the same time, Doro Gaye hopes that the Indictment Chamber will cancel the order revoking his judicial control, which will perhaps save him from prison if he is extradited.
