This Thursday, January 9, at 7:45 a.m., two residents of the village of Kingdomix, near Toul, were fatally mowed down by a car. They are two cousins aged 74 and 61, retired, who walked every day using the same route.
They were hit while driving along the municipal road linking their village to that of Manoncourt-en-Woëvre. The driver is a resident of the area. The latter was placed in police custody.
According to the first elements of the investigation entrusted to the Toul gendarmes, the darkness, the rain and the lack of visibility of the victims – who nevertheless wore vests – are at the origin of the tragedy.
A shock wave in the village
Contacted at the end of the morning, Mayor Tony Chenot, busy with the procedures linked to this tragedy, added that this local road called Chemin des Bœufs had certainly been paved, but remained a narrow artery, not secure for pedestrians. He is working on developing the center of the village, unfortunately this portion is located outside the town.
The first councilor also reports that this double death caused a shock wave in the village. “These two women were born and raised in Realmix. » The local press correspondent for L’Est Républicain Jacques Poinçot speaks of a “gunshot effect” caused by the news among the villagers.
