Following the intense rainfall of recent days, drinking water is deemed unfit for consumption in several municipalities in Seine-Maritime this Wednesday, January 8, 2024.
The cause: an increase in water turbidity. Nearly 2,200 residents are affected by this restriction.
The affected municipalities are:
- Mont-Cauvaire,
- Les-Authieux-Ratieville
- Claville-Motteville
- Cleres
- Fontaine-le-Bourg
“VEOLIA and the SIAEP of the Mont-Cauvaire region inform us of the turbidity of the water in the following hamlets:- Le Mont-Piel, Le Mesnil, Le Mesnil-Englier, Talvanne, Le Hamel, La Justice, Le Thieulin , Les Maisonnettes, Le Creux”, indicated the town of Fontaine-le-Bourg on its social networks.
To overcome this problem, a distribution of bottled water is planned for Wednesday, January 8. Residents are invited to go between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to the Raimbourg farm barn, located at 1 rue Placide Alexandre in Mont-Cauvaire.
Another distribution will take place at the town hall for certain residents of the areas concerned.
The heavy rains of recent days are the cause of this exceptional situation. “EDue to significant rainfall, tap water has experienced an increase in turbidity, leading to a restriction of use.explains Veolia.
The authorities remind that water should not be consumed, whether for drinking, cooking or brushing teeth, until the situation is resolved. However, it can be used for washing or as a machine for washing clothes.
