The Tampa Bay Lightning have decided to make a very bold decision with one of their star players, as Brayden Point is left out for Tuesday night’s game.
The leader in power play goals and third top scorer in the NHL this season will therefore be in the press box instead of on the ice.
But what could explain this kind of gesture? Why is Brayden Point being left out even though he is fully healthy? No, it’s not because he will be traded.
Brayden Point is left out by the Tampa Bay Lightning
The small forward missed a team meeting recently and that’s why he is not participating in tonight’s match, according to Renaud Lavoie.
We must therefore believe that the reason for his absence did not suit head coach Jon Cooper, who decided to lead by example.
At the same time, it sends a powerful message to the players’ room that regardless of their status, they will be reprimanded if they violate team rules.
Brayden Point is an excellent hockey player, who has 47 points in 37 games this season. He was also invited to represent Canada at the Four Nations Tournament.
Hopefully he learned his lesson, because it’s pretty humiliating to get knocked out of a game, especially against a rival like the Boston Bruins.
Brayden Point’s place is on the ice, and Jon Cooper has already demonstrated in the past that he is not afraid to take action, when he had Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov on the bench for an entire period.
