Winter sales start this Wednesday January 8, 2025 in the majority of departments.

The only exceptions are Meurthe-et-, Meuse, Moselle and Vosges, where the kick-off was given from January 2and some Overseas departments and communitieswith staggered dates.

Private sales, promotions…

For many years now, it has been the same question: will there be a rush for good dealsTHE consumers will they be there? We are certainly far from rushes of yesteryear In the shops in town.

Between private sales, regular promotions, clearance stores who have the wind in their sails, competition from the online sales (with sales too, on the same dates as for traditional commerce), uses have changed.

Not yet obsolete

The fact remains that the sales have not yet completely fallen into disuse and remain separate for a while depending on representatives of professionals.

“We can think that the winter sales will work this year,” declares Laure Brunet-Ruinart de Brimont, general delegate of the Confederation of French Traders (CDF).

The slowdown in inflation et the weather could indeed push the French to take out their wallets during these sales, despite uncertainties linked to political context which are never very good for commercial activity.

I believe we are capable of overcoming this instability.

Which considers that there is always a “strong expectation” traders.

Some of them, however, would like the launch date of the sales to be later in the winter. There are four weeks from this Wednesday to check if everyone's hopes will come true.

The closing date of these 2025 winter sales has been set for February 4 inclusive.
