Almost a month after the passage of Cyclone Chido in Mayotte, solidarity does not weaken in Moselle. While a first maritime container loaded with foodstuffs has departed from Cheminot, the traders of Saint-Avold and Secours Populaire are calling for financial donations.
Almost a month to the day after the tragedy that ravaged Mayotte, the Mayotte Metz sports and cultural association finally found a way to send the numerous material donations collected in the department's businesses and associations. Thanks to Pascal Grosset, manager of the company MMC CDALtwo maritime containers will be able to be transported to the archipelago, at a cost of 10 000 euros. From the company's premises in Cheminot, a first box hit the road on January 8, filled by volunteers, mainly Mahorais. After its transit leaves the port of Marseille, and a 45-day journey at sea, the clothing, foodstuffs, medical equipment and other donations will be entrusted to local associations to be dispatched according to the needs of the population. Koudrati Moindjiesecretary of the Mayotte sports and cultural association in Metz, hopes to find another source of funding in order to send the rest of the donations.
