The members of the Intercommunal Water and Sanitation Union of Nemours (Seine-et-) and its region were recently gathered for the last Union Council of the year and even of the union.

Indeed, on January 1, 2026, according to the NOTRe law, establishing the New Territorial Organization of the Republic, the transfer of “water” and “sanitation” skills to communities of municipalities is mandatory.

Also, the 10 municipalities of the current SIAEP will be joined by the municipalities of the SIAEP of Grez-sur-Loing/Montcourt-Fromonville, the SIAEP of the Buthiers Region and the SIAEP of Burcy-Fromont-Rumont.

As President Christian Peuot clarified, “this new union will be called SMEAPN (Syndicat Mixte Eau & Assainissements du Pays de Nemours) and will serve 33,000 inhabitants. All assets and liabilities of our current union will be transferred to the larger common union. The aim is to avoid the multiplication of small unions, to concentrate our actions, to reduce operating costs, to protect the precious water resource.”

4 million invested in 4 years

Christian Peuot then provided a very comprehensive assessment of the work carried out in recent years, both in terms of prevention, safety, maintenance of pipes but also communication with citizens.

A lot of work has been done on the technical sidefinancial and accounting, thanks to the two agents and technicians of the Union, but also to the continued participation of elected officials in meetings and the responsiveness of the delegatee SAUR.

We will mainly note that over the period 2020-2024, one million euros were spent on drinking water, securing reservoirs, network between Darvault and Nemours, renewal of drinking water pipes, etc.), and nearly 3 million for sanitation, including the famous photovoltaic park of the Nemosia wastewater treatment plant.
