The fire, which ravaged an apartment located on the first floor of a two-story building, also inconvenienced seven other residents due to toxic fumes. All were evacuated and examined by doctors.
During the intervention of Hérault firefighters, an oxygen cylinder stored in the accommodation exploded. Two firefighters from the Sérignan rescue center were injured. Although their injuries were minor, they were taken to hospital for treatment and monitoring.
Next to 70 firefighters were mobilized to control this large-scale disaster. During the evacuation, residents were welcomed in the Sauvian multipurpose room. The mayor and the sub-prefect went to the site to provide support to the victims.
